ScanWorks® named Best in Test finalist twice!
ScanWorks embedded and ScanWorks support for Xeon validation and test

ASSET’s ScanWorks® continued to be recognized for technical achievement as two instances of the platform for embedded instruments were named Best in Test 2010 finalists in Test and Measurement World magazine’s annual awards program. ScanWorks was the only product that was named twice in the “DFT, Boundary Scan and Emulation” category.
ScanWorks® for embedded boundary scan and ScanWorks support for validation and test of Intel® Xeon® Processors 5500 Series (codenamed Nehalem) printed-circuit boards were both named finalists. An online voting process will determine the first place winners in each category. Winners will be announced by the magazine later in the spring.
“Having two products named finalists this year is quite an accomplishment in itself,” said Glenn Woppman, president and CEO of ASSET. “Finalists are chosen by the editors of Test and Measurement World, whose knowledge of the test industry is certainly considerable. A lot of hard work and visionary technical leadership went into achieving these two distinctions for ASSET.”
ScanWorks for embedded boundary scan is an embeddable intellectual property (IP) version of the ScanWorks platform for system manufacturers that require extreme reliability, availability and serviceability of products in the field. With ScanWorks embedded in the system, system-level tests, diagnostics and programming algorithms can be applied locally or remotely, providing unparalleled control of operations, administration and maintenance. One manufacturer that is already taking advantage of embedded ScanWorks IP is the supercomputer company Cray® Inc. ScanWorks is being embedded into Cray’s next-generation supercomputers to supply high-reliability and remote diagnostics.
“ASSET’s ScanWorks platform provides a rich set of functionality for embedded diagnostics,” said Peg Williams, senior vice president of research and development at Cray. “ScanWorks-based solutions will enable Cray’s next-generation product development to maintain a focus on quality and reliability, while continuing to push the envelope in scalability.”
Support for validation and test of Intel Xeon designs earned ScanWorks a Best in Test finalist distinction because ScanWorks is the first and only tester in the industry to support both signal integrity design validation and circuit board test for Xeon-based circuit boards. ScanWorks deploys three non-intrusive technologies — boundary scan, built-in test and processor-controlled test (PCT) — to validate and test Xeon boards.
