App Note shows how ScanWorks® can control system monitors

ASSET’s development personnel and field application engineers are constantly adding to and updating the many resources available to users on maintenance contracts. For example, an application note on how ScanWorks® can be used to control and manage system monitoring devices from Maxim Integrated Products was recently added to the ScanWorks “Maintenance Benefits” page.
This particular note describes how the IEEE 1149.1 boundary scan Test Access Port (TAP) on Maxim’s MAX16XXX family of system monitors allows the devices to be accessed and controlled by ScanWorks. The three main functions of the Maxim system manager devices are voltage, current and temperature monitoring.
The application note uses the MAX16031 to illustrate its points. The MAX16031 is a fully configurable (EEPROM) system manager device, capable of monitoring, sequencing, tracking, and margining up to eight system voltages, three temperature sensors and one current monitor simultaneously, all of which can be completely controlled via boundary scan.
